COVID-19: It's a top war for me to be in isolation, Oyo Gov. Seyi Makinde laments

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has lamented from his isolation having been recently tested positive to Coronavirus that it is really a top of war for him to be confined to his sitting room and bedroom at the moment.

The governor said this on Friday through a phone-in interview on the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) and the privately-owned Fresh FM 105.9.

Governor Makinde revealed that he is not someone who is comfortable sitting in one spot.

He also noted that he still (as at the time of the interview) doesn't have any symptom of Coronavirus, adding that his temperature was still normal, reading 36.5 degrees Celsius.

He added that that is why he has been insisting that people should maintain social distancing, follow hygienic practises and stay at home because they don't know whether the person they are interacting with is Coronavirus positive or negative.

Makinde noted that he has always known that the work he is doing comes with a certain number of risks, adding that he has resolved to serve the people of Oyo State.

The Oyo State Governor, who described himself as a long-distance runner, saying that he runs marathons, described the battle against Coronavirus as an additional battle that he hopes to win by the grace of God.

Governor Makinde then emphasised that Coronavirus is real while adding that the Oyo State people and Nigerians at large need to halt the way they interact with one another, at least, "until we have a handle on the disease itself."
